Russia is keep launching major drones, missiles attack on Ukraine

Kyiv experienced intense drone and missile strikes early Sunday. Independent monitors stated this was one of the largest Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital and nearby areas since the full-scale war began.

At least three people died and around ten were injured in the city, according to Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, who reported on the Telegram messaging app. One of the deceased has been identified as a 12-year-old girl, though this has not been officially confirmed by Tkachenko.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported that Russia launched a significant air attack involving hundreds of missiles and drones. He posted on X ,”Putin must feel the danger of continuing this war, both for himself and for his allies, his economy, and his regime,” . “That is what could make him stop this senseless war.”

Several other regions were also affected by the strikes, with authorities reporting at least 16 people injured in the southern city of Zaporizhzhia, including three children.

Footage shared on social media showed several buildings damaged and ablaze in Zaporizhzhia. In Kyiv, drones flew over the city, and anti-aircraft fire was heard for several hours, according to witnesses from Reuters. Loud explosions were also reported, with the attack ongoing as of 9:15 a.m. (0615 GMT).

Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated a fire broke out at a state cardiological hospital due to the attack. Many residents sought safety in metro stations deep underground, sleeping on makeshift beds or sitting on deck chairs while keeping track of news on their phones.

Neighboring Poland closed airspace near two of its southeastern cities and its air force scrambled jets in response.
