The Israeli forces’ long-anticipated ground operation into Gaza City had entered a new phase on Tuesday with the declaration, “Gaza is burning”.
An Israeli military official said the Israeli Defence Forces had begun the main stage of their ground operation into Gaza City, the main urban centre in the enclave, where Israel has ordered hundred of thousand residents to flee.
IDF initially gave few details but stated its troops had begun “dismantling Hamas terrorist infrastructure in Gaza City”.
“Gaza is burning,” Defence Minister Israel Katz posted on X. “The IDF strikes with an iron fist at the terrorist infrastructure and IDF soldiers are fighting bravely to create the conditions for the release of the hostages and the defeat of Hamas.”
Respective locals reported a drastic increase in the bombardment of the city during the past two days, with much heavier explosions that leveled the homes of dozens, and now naval boats would join the tanks and planes in bombarding the coast.
“Significant operations have been launched in Gaza,” Netanyahu said as he began his testimony in court in an ongoing corruption trial.
